PERFORMING FOR ROYALTY The First International Ex-Service Wheelchair Games was held at the Guttman Sports Centre, Stoke Mandeville Hospital and the Guests of Honour were, HRH King Hussein of Jordan and Queen Noor. The Band was asked to lead on the Games Flag at the opening ceremony and this they proudly did.
Others also taking part were The 7th Duke of Edinburgh's Own Gurkha Rifles, The RBL Central Band, and Barnstaple Town Majorettes. It was a splendid day and everyone was most impressed by the fortitude, skill and good humour of the athletes. They are an inspiration to all.
LOCAL EVENTS A large RBL contingent was on parade for the Anniversary of the Witney Feast.

The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire took the salute as the Band led the march to the war memorial where wreaths were laid. The narrow and steep roads at Wroxton offered the Band a challenge which they met when performing at the village fete. A very pleasant day and another opportunity to practise the contest routine on the public.
CONTEST PROMOTION Following steady results at the TYMBA contests entered during the previous 2 years the Band were rewarded with a promotion to the Contest Class division. Contests would be that bit harder in future.
